PAYING FOR A FOUR-YEAR DEGREE

Students who transfer to a four-year college have access to the same financial aid resources such as grants, loans, and military benefits available at WKCTC.

In addition, transfer students can apply for scholarships designed for upper-classmen at four-year colleges and universities.

KCTCS Scholarship

Minimum requirements: 24 college hours earned and a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0 from all previous college coursework.

Award amount: half of in-state tuition for six consecutive semesters upon maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.5.

KCTCS Transfer Scholarship

Recipients of this scholarship must be admitted to MSU as a transfer student from any KCTCS institution AND meet BOTH of the following requirements:

  1. Have completed at least 36 hours of college coursework; and
  2. Have a cumulative college GPA of 3.5 or higher

Recipients pay equivalent to 12 hours KCTCS tuition instead of MSU tuition rate.

This award is renewable for recipients who maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

Murray State awards two scholarships listed below that are specifically designated for transfer students.

Lillian Lowry Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to a junior student transferring to Murray State from an accredited community college.

Transfer Scholarship: Awarded to a new (first-time) transfer student who should have completed 60 semester hours with a 3.0 GPA. The recipient must be enrolled full-time at MSU. The award is renewable for one year.

KCTCS Scholarship Program

In the fall of 2007 NKU will increase the amount of the competitive scholarship for KCTCS transfers from $2,000 to $2,500 per year. The award can be renewed for up to 6 semesters and will be awarded on a competitive basis.

Qualifications:

  • Must complete at least 36 hours at a KCTCS institution
  • Must have a minimum college GPA of 2.5 to be considered

Requirements:

  • Must apply for the scholarship by May 15, 2007
  • Must apply for admission to NKU by May 15, 2007
  • Must remain in good academic standing as defined by the satisfactory academic progress guidelines
  • Must maintain full-time enrollment (completing at least 12 hours each Fall and Spring semester)

The KCTCS Transfer Scholarship

Applicants must be admitted to Kentucky State University as a transfer student from any KCTCS institution, have completed at least 12 semester hours of college work, and earned a minimum 3.0 G.P.A. (4.0 scale). Awards range from $1,000 - $2,000 and are renewable for each academic year.

Trustee Scholarship Program for Transfer Students

KCTCS graduates who earn an Associate's Degree with a 3.50 cumulative GPA after the spring 2008 term and then transfer to UK for the fall 2008 term are eligible to compete for a limited number of two year renewable awards which cover the difference between UK tuition and KCTCS tuition.

Currently enrolled KCTCS students with 48 hours after the spring 2008 semester (with at least 24 earned at KCTCS) and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30, that are not receiving the above award, are eligible to compete for a limited number of $4,000 scholarships, payable as $2,000 per year for up to two years.

All other transfer students with a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA, that are currently enrolled at an accredited institution and will have 24 hours by the end of the spring 2008 term, are eligible to compete for a limited number of $1,000 non-renewable awards.

*UK College of Engineering, Paducah Campus students are eligible for the Trustee Scholarship!

KCTCS Academic Transfer Scholarship

In order to apply, students must:

  • Have 40 or more transferable hours at the end of the spring semester. The 40 transferable hours cannot include developmental coursework.
  • Have a 3.25 transferable GPA at the end of the spring semester. The transferable GPA cannot include developmental coursework.
  • Plan to enter the University of Louisville for the summer or fall semester.
  • Complete an application for admission to the University of Louisville by March 15.
  • Turn in final transcripts by May 15.

Students may apply if they currently do not have a 3.25 transferable GPA or 40 transferable hours but anticipate they will at the end of the Spring semester. Awards are merit based and typically range from $500 to $3000 per year. All eligible students will be awarded.

Community College/Junior College Transfers who have completed two years at a community or junior college may apply for a Community/Junior College Scholarship. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of college academic achievement.
