Steve Knight, Superintendent for Marshall County
Schools, is pleased with the training that STW has provided for
teachers to integrate career education into the curriculum. In a
recent interview, he said:
"The School To Careers process provides an important
link between the business and the postsecondary communities and
our school district. The School-to-Work
program is an important part of our overall school program. Many
of our students benefit greatly from the learning activities that
the school-to-work program provides. We want all of our students
to be exposed to potential career opportunities and this program
offers the chance to explore many career possibilities.
School systems must think in terms of P-16 as a minimum goal for
all students. The environment of work is changing rapidly and
schools need the partnership with the business and postsecondary
communities to adequately prepare students for the world of tomorrow.
The impact of School To Careers on teaching methodologies is readily
visible in the integration projects between academic and technical
areas. This team approach to crossing curriculums and educational
disciplines is a needed activity in preparing students to transition
knowledge from one function area to another. We are now in a global
environment and economy. We must be willing to adapt and always
keep the student first in all we attempt to achieve."
