Welcome to the Local Labor Market Area # 1 School to Careers Consortium

CARLISLE COUNTY

"... as parents become more engaged in their children's education, they are more encouraged to focus on career planning at an earlier age thus increasing their children's future opportunities for success in the workplace."

Ron McAlister, Carlisle County Schools Superintendent

Responding to what STW has meant to the Carlisle County School District, School Superintendent Ron McAlister stated, "it has caused us to focus on raising our standards for student achievement and to have higher expectations of all students. The STW Program, which has been well received by our teachers, has encouraged us to eliminate some general track courses and to develop more challenging tech prep courses to help students better prepare themselves for career decisions."

Mr. McAlister stated that as teachers and students at all levels become involved in STW activities and, as parents become more engaged in their children's education, they are more encouraged to focus on career planning at an earlier age thus increasing their children's future opportunities for success in the workplace. With respect to future goals for STW, his interest is in better student results and feels the program should be designed to help more students achieve their full potential in whatever career path they choose.
