The Governor's Minority Students College Preparation Program

The Governor's Minority Students College Preparation Program is for minority students who have completed the eighth grade and are in Paducah and McCracken County School System. The program is conducted throughout the year with monitoring, tutorial assistance, cultural activities and parent information networking.

The Governor's Minority Students College Preparation Program seeks to:

  • Expose students to college to encourage them to pursue a college education and career
  • Empower and prepare students for college by improving their math and reading skills
  • Expose students to career opportunities as well as broaden their horizon by exposing them to several diverse experiences
  • Expose students to new and emerging careers through industry visits and hands-on career exploration at the college
  • Encourage students to develop an appreciation for the arts by exploring cultural events in Paducah and surrounding areas
  • Expose students to techniques to improve their study skills
  • Provide an opportunity for the students to participate in the City of Paducah Summer Youth Program
  • Monitor the progress of students to provide early intervention
