THE KCTCS COMPUTER LITERACY EXAM

The KCTCS Computer Literacy Exam is now available for interested, qualified students.


Students wishing to take the exam that will satisfy the computer literacy component of the general education requirements should be proficient in word processing, spreadsheets and basic computer terminology.

Students wishing to take the exam to receive credit for CIS 100 (Introduction to Computers) will need to take an additional database exam.

Vouchers for the exam can be purchased at the WKCTC bookstore (Barnes and Noble). The cost of the vouchers for the exam is $88.30 (this includes the database exam). Students should bring the vouchers to the Assessment Center, located in Anderson 105, to schedule the exam. The exam will be administered in Anderson 110 Assessment Center. CIS 100 Credit Exam Procedures

Competencies of the database exam are:
1. Use a database management program to create, maintain, and print reports from a simple relational database.
2. Use a database management program to customize the user interface by creating and maintaining forms and reports.
3. Use a database management program to query tables using basic query operations such as “and”, “or”, “not”, etc.
4. Print in landscape and portrait orientations.
5. Demonstrate a basic understanding of database concepts.
