CRIME AWARENESS AND CAMPUS SAFETY

Kentucky Community and Technical College System

Introduction

We welcome you to West Kentucky Community and Technical College. We are very concerned with our students' and employees' safety and security. We want your time on campus to be safe and enjoyable. While this information has been designed to comply with the requirements of the Student-Right-to-Know and Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990, the main purpose is designed to acquaint you with the history of crimes committed on campus. Most college campuses do have incidents of crime. We are very fortunate at West Kentucky Community and Technical College in that we have had few incidences of crimes on our campus, but crime reduction requires the continued active support of the entire college community. By taking certain precautions, criminal acts can be eliminated. We use a variety of approaches for prevention of incidents, such as: security patrols, local law enforcement patrols, burglar alarm systems in certain areas, lighting sensors, and reporting of suspicious occurrences to college faculty and staff. We urge you to work with us to achieve this goal.

We encourage prompt and accurate reporting of ALL criminal matters occurring on campus. These incidents should be reported to the Campus Safety Officer at 554-9200 extension 6127 or 554-4991 extension 213, who will then contact the local police. The Campus Security Office can be reached by dialing 554-6300. The Evening Coordinator can be reached at 554-9200 extension 6114.
