Space Day 2008 |
More than 400 fourth-grade students from Graves County elementary schools attended Space Day 2008 at the Challenger Learning Center at Paducah on May 6.
The day will started off with a program hosted by WPSD NewsChannel 6, morning anchorwoman, Beth Bradley, in the West Kentucky Community and Technical College Clemens Theatre.
Bradley interviewed via phone, NASA astronaut John Casper, at the Johnson Space Center in Houston where she asked him many questions about his time in space.
After the program, students attended learning stations, which included space related presentations and activities by the following groups: Challenger Learning Center, Energy Fitness, MAQS, 4-H, National Weather Service, McCracken County Extension Service, Golden Pond Planetarium, and Jackson Purchase Energy.
Space Day is an award-winning grassroots, national educational initiative dedicated to the extraordinary achievements, benefits and opportunities in the exploration and use of space. Organizers seek to advance science, math, technology, and engineering education and to inspire young people to realize the vision of our space pioneers.
This was the seventh Space Day celebration for the Challenger Learning Center at Paducah.
