2007 Paducah Area Artist Competition

The Paducah Area Artists Competition opened August 30 with an artists' reception in the West Kentucky Community and Technical College Clemens Fine Arts Center Gallery. First place honors for the exhibit went to Teri Moore for "Watching", second place went to Sean Brown for "Scrupulous", and the third place award went to Michael Summers for "Tom Fury."

The juried exhibit includes 2-dimensional work by artists within a 100 mile radius of Paducah. Artists exhibiting work in the show include Sarepta Hooks, Nathan Brandon, Paula Danby, Jason Bailey, Mel Garbark, Sean Brown, Judeen Theis, Betty Whitlow, Mary Wampler, Alice L. Gisher, Teri Moore, Debbie Morgan, Evan Krupansky, Deb Lyons, Michael Summers, Tina Mash, Susan Mogan, Robin Martin-Holmes, Michael Crouse, and Debbie Gross. Medias included pastel, latex, charcoal, digital, pencil, water colors, acrylic, oils, lithography, and ink.

Jerry Speight

The exhibit was juried by Jerry Speight. Speight is a full-time visual artist and writer who holds a MFA Degree from the University of Memphis. He now operates a Murray gallery, The 18th Flamingo. Speight has also published two adult fiction novels and is presently writing the biography of Robert Lee Castleman, Grammy Award-winning songwriter.
