RIGHT TO KNOW KCTCS CONSUMER INFORMATON
FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS, ENROLLED STUDENTS AND PERSONNEL

This is a list of available consumer information that you have a right to and the location of the actual information.

  1. A list of required consumer information. (This is it).
  2. With reasonable notification, information regarding consumer information (including student aid) is available during regular business hours in your local Student Affairs Office.
  3. Information regarding special facilities and services for disabled students can be found by contacting your local Disability Coordinator at your college.
  4. For information on general institutional issues contact your local Chief Student Affairs Officer.
  5. Admitted students without a high school diploma or GED can receive information about the availability of a GED study program in the local office of the Chief Student Affairs Officer.
  6. The Student Aid Awarding (Packaging) Policy and Disbursement Procedures are available in your local Student Aid Office.
  7. Student Aid is available for students to attend a study abroad program that is approved for credit by your home school. See your local Student Aid office or Academic Affairs office for details.
  8. In addition to grants and loans, funds are available for Federal Work Study employment including community service work, particularly No Child Left Behind (formerly America Reads/Counts). General conditions and terms of Federal College Work Study employment included in the aid package are available on request in your local Student Aid office.
  9. Student loan information is available in the office of Student Aid including: loan terms, requirements for entrance and exit counseling, consequences of failing to repay loans, a sample repayment schedule, terms and conditions for obtaining a loan deferment including deferment for volunteer service such as (a) Peace Corp; (b) under the Domestic Volunteer Service Act; and (c) as a volunteer for a tax - exempt organization of demonstrated effectiveness in the field of community service.   10. Information regarding the privacy of student records according to The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) is available in the 2008-2009 KCTCS catalog and more explicitly in your office of the Chief Student Affairs Officer. You have the right to opt out of customary information releases.
  11. Graduation/completion and transfer out rates for full-time students are available in the office of the Chief Student Affairs Officer at your local college.
  12. If your school advertises job placement rates these rates are available for your review in the office of the Chief Student Affairs Officer at your local college.
  13. Drug Prevention materials including standards of conduct, sanctions, descriptions of available drug and alcohol counseling, treatment or rehabilitation programs as well as a description of the health risks associated with the use of illicit drug and alcohol are available in the KCTCS Handbook of the Student Code of Conduct and Office of the Chief Student Affairs Officer at your local college.
  14. The campus security report, which includes information about campus security policies and crime statistics, is available in the office of the Chief Student Affairs Officer at your local college.
    1. Campus procedures and facilities as well as the contact persons for reporting crimes or other emergencies, and
    2. Types and frequency of programs that:
      1. Inform students and employees about campus security procedures and practices.
      2. Encourage students and employees to be responsible for their own safety and that of others.
      3. Inform students and employees how to prevent crimes.
      4. Anti-drug abuse and anti-alcohol abuse education.
      5. Sexual assault information and prevention.
    3. Statement of policies concerning the security and access to all campus facilities including residences.
  15. Policies about possession, use and sale of alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs.
  16. Information regarding Student Aid approved leave of absences can be found in the U S Department of Education's Student Aid Handbook 2008-2009 available in your local Student Aid Office.

  22. The cost of tuition and fees at KCTCS schools can be found in the 2008-2009 KCTCS catalog, and the cost of attendance can be found in your local Financial Aid Office. Tuition and fee schedules are often late in being set due to legislative financial/budget information not being available for the Board of Regent's to vote on. Your college of choice is your best source of information when it is available.
  23. A list and explanation of all federal, state, local, private and institutional (KCTCS) financial assistance programs (both need based and non-need based) is available on the 2008-2009 KCTCS Student Aid WEB Consumer Information web site. School specific program information is available in your local Student Aid office.
  24. Information regarding funds students must return if they withdraw from school or stop attending and receive failing grades is available on the 2008-2009 KCTCS Student Aid WEB Consumer Information web site.
  25. To retain eligibility for continued financial assistance you must maintain Standards of Academic Progress (SAP) as discussed on the 2008-2009 KCTCS Student Aid WEB Consumer Information web site.
  26. Re-establishment of eligibility after loss due to failure to meet Standards of Academic Progress is discussed on the 2008-2009 KCTCS Student Aid WEB Consumer Information web site. School specific procedures are available in your local Office of Financial Assistance.

Location of the Regulation, 34 CFR 668.41 of the Federal Register, indicates a list is required.
