Yecenia Oronia-Arellano is the first in her family to go to college. “I decided to attend college because it’s a secure way of bettering myself with promising future opportunities in life.”
She is working toward her Associate of Arts degree at West Kentucky Community and Technical College, and when she graduates, Yecenia plans to transfer to Murray State University to obtain her bachelor’s degree in international business.
Yecenia is active on campus and considers herself a positive person that has several leadership experiences on campus. She is the Spanish Club president, a Student Ambassador, and a work-study student and volunteer in Lindsey Wilson Career and Counseling Center on campus. Yecenia was also named the 2013 September Student of the Month.
Yecenia said attending WKCTC has changed her life tremendously because she has been fortunate enough to be a part of several different organizations on campus. “Being a part of the Spanish Club, a Student Ambassador and being the Student of the Month has allowed me to strive much higher than I initially anticipated. WKCTC has offered me an extraordinary experience and is still granting me the opportunity to be part a more successful student.”
Yecenia’s life goals are to graduate as a successful student and work for a well-known company that will allow her to travel to different areas of the nation as well as to manage her own business – and WKCTC is helping her get there.“I choose to attend West Kentucky because it’s a small welcoming community college that serves the student body as its main priority by setting high standards for everyone; I am extremely happy and proud to be a apart of WKCTC.”
