National Science Foundation (STEM) Scholarships

National Science Foundation logoSTEM scholarships are available to qualified high school students and first-time students.  This scholarship enables low-income, non-traditional or minority students to pursue an associate degree in manufacturing/engineering technology, information technology or pre-engineering programs.  This scholarship may be renewable for a second consecutive year of study based on academic performance.

High School Seniors and First-Time Students

Current high school seniors are eligible for STEM scholarships at WKCTC if:

  1. A complete scholarship application is submitted.
  2. They are a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, refugee alien or permanent resident alien at the time of application.
  3. They plan to be enrolled full-time at WKCTC.  Full-time enrollment for STEM scholarships required completion of 30 credit hours each academic year.
  4. Demonstrate academic potential and/or ability based upon high school GPA and ACT scores.
  5. Submit teacher recommendation(s).  Form is available on the scholarship website.
  6. Submit a 500 word essay on goals and expectations of applicant's chosen career.
  7. Submit a 2010 FAFSA confirmation.  FAFSA must demonstrate financial need as defined by the U.S. Department of Education eligibility rules for need-based federal financial aid.
