Getting Started

Getting Started with Online Learning

  1. Apply for Admission
Click Apply Now and complete the online application. Select West Kentucky Community and Technical College as your "Home College." For assistance, please call 855-469-5282 (855-GO-WKCTC) or visit our Student Service Center online.

  2. Assessment
Students who have not taken the ACT or who do not meet minimum ACT requirements for placement in college level courses can take the COMPASS placement assessment. Online learning students who cannot take the COMPASS at a Kentucky Community and Technical College (KCTCS) campus can work with the WKCTC Director of Online Student Services to identify a testing location in an area convenient to the student.

  3. Financial Aid
Financial aid for online courses is available for qualified students. Please refer to the Financial Aid department for more information.

  4. Register for Courses
New online students will be initially assigned as advisees for the Director of Online Student Services. Advising sessions for online students will be conducted in-person or by telephone, e-mail, or Wimba.

Currently enrolled students may register for online classes by meeting with their assigned adviors, or they may register online with advisor consent.

  5. Buy your Textbooks
Students who are taking online courses can purchase textbooks using the online bookstore.

  6. Disability Services
The WKCTC Office of Disability Services will work with Online Learning students to determine if accommodations are appropriate and to assist them in obtaining equal access to education while at WKCTC. All requests for accommodations should be directed to Shelia Highfil, Manager of Disability Services, at 270-534-3406 or shelia.highfil@kctcs.edu.

  7. Veterans Affairs
