Fire/Rescue Science Technology

Stop…Drop…and Roll!

The Fire/Rescue Science Technology program prepares area Firefighters and Industrial Responders to meet the challenges of being an emergency responder in the 21st Century. Student’s knowledge and skills will be developed with training in fire prevention and suppression, technical rescue, hazardous materials, emergency medical care and leadership.  Program courses are beneficial whether you are seeking a career in Emergency Services (Fire, Rescue, EMS or Emergency Management) or if you are already involved in providing fire, rescue or EMS services.  Courses are scheduled for the working student with most classes scheduled in the evenings and on some weekends. You can obtain a degree in two (2) years if you maintain full-time status and other certificate credentials can be completed in as little as six (6) months.  Please check with financial aid to see if you qualify for assistance.   Check out our flyer.

Length of Program

Students seeking an Associate in Applied Science degree can complete the program in four or five semesters by completing a total of 61-64 credit hours.  Those seeking a diploma can complete their plan of study in four semesters by completing a total of 52-55 credit hours of technical and general education courses.  Certificates embedded within the diploma may be awarded as credential requirements are met.  Day classes, evening classes and some weekend classes are offered during two 16 – week semesters (August-December and January-May) each academic year.
