Two West Kentucky Community & Technical College employees were among 27 faculty and staff members selected from throughout the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) to participate in President Michael B. McCall's ninth annual President's Leadership Seminar (PLS) at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Lexington.

Faith Crim of Metropolis, IL, director of the Teaching and Learning Center at WKCTC, and Claudia Stoffel of Paducah, a professor of nursing and the clinical coordinator of the associate degree in nursing program at WKCTC, participated in the four-day event.

The seminar, which ended September 12, promoted strengthening leadership traits among KCTCS faculty and staff in an effort to advance the System's 16 community and technical colleges, as well as each participant's personal and professional goals. This unique professional development experience explored such broad-ranging issues as leadership traits, national issues and trends, professionalism, media relations, and customer service.

Guest speakers scheduled for the event include: George Boggs, president and CEO of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC); Harry Pickens, jazz pianist and inspirational educator; Pamila Fisher, facilitator for AACC's Future Leaders Institute; and George B. Vaughan, editor of Community College Review.

"This year's President's Leadership Seminar promises to be one of the most thoroughly expansive, educational and inspirational programs we've ever organized," McCall said. "Our speakers bring a great depth of experience in leadership development, and the accomplishments of the faculty and staff chosen to participate is truly first-rate. This seminar not only helps strengthen and advance KCTCS, but also provides great guidance to our graduates as they continue building careers of excellence."

To be eligible for the seminar, faculty and staff members from the colleges must be nominated by their college presidents. President McCall makes the final selection of the class.
