Tammy Owen, Director of the Accessible College Education recently received her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.
The title of her dissertation was “The Relationship Between the Nursing Mandated Integrated Practicum Program in Kentucky and Workforce Readiness in New Graduates.
All of Owens work was done online in an accelerated format, with each class only lasting eight weeks in length.
While studying for her doctorate, Owen attended three residences in Atlanta, Georgia.
“I chose the University of Phoenix because of the convenience. I was able to complete my work at a time that was convenient for me. I was often up and at the computer at 4 a.m,” said Owen.
When Owen started the program, she said she promised her children, who are active in sports, that she would not miss any of their activities because of her work. “Although it was difficult and often stressful, I never missed any of their activities because I had to stay home to complete and assignment,” said Owen.
