Karen Hlinka Wins
WKCTC Teacher of the Year

   
 
West Kentucky Community & Technical College named Karen Hlinka as the 2008 Teacher of the Year. Hlinka, a Benton resident, was selected as the student body’s favorite teacher, among 14 faculty members nominated by the Student Senate. (more)

Another Successful Year with Geranium Sales
 
Laura Grumley, Beverly McKinley and Bob Parker unloaded more than 400 geraniums for this years fundraiser for the WKCTC Heart Walk team.
The WKCTC Heart Walk team had another successful year with geranium sales. The team sold 420 geraniums and collected $1910. "I am very proud of the team and hope to reach our goal of $2500 by the September 13 walk." If there are any students, faculty or staff members that would like to be a part of the team, please contact Laura Grumley.
 
 
Super Summer 8-week Start! Challenge
  West Kentucky Community& Technical College will once again be offering the Start! Challenge to anyone interested beginning June 23 for eight weeks.
 
 
Retired Instructor Receives Kentucky History Award

Former WKCTC instructor John E. L. Robertson, Sr. was recently presented with the Lifetime Dedication to Kentucky History Award at the 2008 Kentucky History Awards Program held at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History. (more)

Stormy weather didn't stop more than 125 people from attending a retirement reception in honor of veteran educator Andrew Halford May 2 at West Kentucky Community & Technical College. (more)

 


Clay Recognized for A Lifestyle Change

Martha Clay was recently recognized at the American Heart Association's McCracken County Executives Breakfast for her lifestyle change of quitting smoking and exercising.
Martha Clay is 57 years old and has smoked for 38 years. On March 3, 2008, Martha joined the START! Program at West Kentucky Community and Technical College, where she works as the public relations secretary. (more)

 

Johanna Recieves Administrative Services Employee of the Month
Johanna Zeiler accepts the Administrative Services Award from John Carrico.
John Carrico, Vice President of Administrative Services, presented the award to Johanna Zeiler as the Administrative Services Employee of the Month. Zeiler's peers in the Administrative Services department voted her as the employee of the month.
