A commitment of West Kentucky Community & Technical College to the community is the desire to place the institution at the forefront of economic development. A manifestation of that commitment can be the design and operation of an Emerging Technology Center (ETC).

More than just a physical structure of bricks and mortar, an ETC is a commitment of resources and people to reach and enhance existing business and to attract new business and industry. It is a conscious aim to more effectively employ institutional resources in a business and industry outreach effort.

The mission of the ETC could generally be anticipated to be the increase of the economic vitality of area business and industry through employee training and development, applied technology transfer, and other services. Programs and services might include credit and non-credit courses, customized training, short-term training, consulting, company needs assessments, and new technology demonstration.

The development and operation of the ETC will position and secure the college as a community friend and partner and a part of an overall strategy for sustained viability. As a catalyst for development and improvement, the ETC will benefit the community and the college by linking business and industry to the changing workforce of tomorrow.
