UserFirst-Time Students

STEP 1. COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
STEP 2. 

APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID BY COMPLETING THE FAFSA    [Federal School Code: 001979]

STEP 3.

REQUEST ACT SCORES ONLINE OR COMPLETE THE COMPASS TEST

  • ACT scores do not have an expiration date.  COMPASS Testing is valid for 3 years.
  • Required ACT Scores for COMPASS Exemption: English 18, Math 19, Reading 20.
STEP 4. REQUEST FINAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT OR GED AND ALL OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT(S).  Note: All transcripts must be received before enrolling.
  • We cannot accept faxed transcripts.
  • Send high school transcript via mail or electronically by requesting at www.parchment.com or your High School.
  • Hand delivered/mailed transcripts must be in a sealed official envelope with a print date of 6 months or less. GED transcripts must be mailed from the state.
  • For International transcripts, please refer to the KCTCS Foreign Transcript Policy.

IF TAKEN, REQUEST ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) SCORES BE MAILED DIRECTLY TO WKCTC

UserTransfer or Readmission Students

STEP 1. COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
STEP 2. 

APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID BY COMPLETING THE FAFSA    [Federal School Code: 001979]

STEP 3. REQUEST ALL OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT(S).  Note: Transcripts must be received before enrolling.
  • We cannot accept faxed transcripts.  Hand delivered/mailed transcripts must be in a sealed official envelope with a print date of 6 months or less. 
  • For International transcripts, please refer to the KCTCS Foreign Transcript Policy.
  • NOTE:  In the event that your transfer credit does not satisfy the prerequisites for college level enrollment, you may be required to REQUEST ACT SCORES ONLINE OR COMPLETE THE COMPASS TEST

UserVisiting or Transient Students

What is a visiting student?  

A visiting student is a student that has been enrolled in another post-secondary institution for the most recent semester and is requesting to take class(es) with WKCTC on a temporary basis, then transfer those credits back to their original college. For example, a University of Kentucky student for the spring semester may take summer class(es) with WKCTC then transfer those credits back to the University of Kentucky for Fall.

STEP 1. COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
If you wish to receive financial aid as a visiting student, you will need to apply for financial aid through your home 
campus and request a concurrent enrollment form from them.  This form is then completed by WKCTC and 
returned to your home campus.  For more information please contact (855) 469-5282.

STEP 2.

REQUEST COLLEGE MAIL OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT(S) OR LETTER OF GOOD STANDING DIRECTLY TO WKCTC.  Note: All transcripts/letters must be received before enrolling.

  • All mailed transcripts must be mailed directly from institutions to WKCTC.  We can not accept faxed transcripts as official.
  • Hand delivered transcripts must be in a sealed official envelope with a print date of 6 months or less.
  • For International college transcripts, please refer to the KCTCS Foreign Transcript Policy.
  • ACT or COMPASS scores are usually required for course placement.
STEP 3.  

REGISTER FOR CLASSES

  • All visiting students are given self-enroll permission, however, if you need assistance with registering for online classes, please email our visiting student/online advisor, Christina Anderson at Christina.Anderson@kctcs.edu.  Your email must come from either your KCTCS or home college student email account so it will count as your official signature.  Please include the following information:
    • KCTCS Student ID#
    • Full Name
    • Date of Birth
    • Class(es) in which you wish to enroll
    • Attach any unofficial transcripts or test scores for course prerequisites.  
  • If you are registering for on campus classes and are unable to self-enroll, please make an appointment with our Registration & Advising Center by contacting (855) 469-5282. 
  • All financial holds on your account must be resolved prior to registration.

UserNon-Degree Seeking Students

What is a Non-Degree Seeking Student?
A Non-Degree Student is a student that has no intention of completing any certificate, diploma, or associates degree program.

STEP 1. COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

STEP 2.

REQUEST ACT SCORES ONLINE OR COMPLETE THE COMPASS TEST 

  • ACT scores do not have an expiration date.  COMPASS Testing is valid for 3 years.
  • Required ACT Scores for COMPASS Exemption: English 18, Math 19, Reading 20.
  • Prior college work may also be considered as fulfilling prerequisites in lieu of test scores as long as the student requests their college transcripts be mailed directly to WKCTC.  Please note, we cannot accept any faxed transcripts.  
STEP 3.

UserSenior Learning Students (65 Years or Older)

STEP 1.

  • Senior Learners (age 65+) will need to supply a valid copy of a current Kentucky driver's license/state-issued ID to the records office in order to waive tuition.  Please note that you will be responsible for book costs and other course related fees.

ComputerOnline and Distance Learning Students

  • Your new student orientation will be scheduled during your advising appointment.

STEP 1. COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
STEP 2.  SEE THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT COORDINATOR IN ROOM 204 OF THE ANDERSON TECHNICAL BUILDING OR BY CALLING 855/469-5282.  YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING:
  • Application for I-20 Form 
  • Proof of English proficiency:
    • TOEFL - The minimum TOEFL score for admission must be at least 400 paper-based or 97 computer-based or 32 New internet-based. Test results must be sent to WKCTC directly from the testing service. The test scores must not be older than 18 months. The TOEFL institutional code for WKCTC is 8705. Additional information is available at.  OR
    • College English 101 and 102-Completion of College English 101 and 102 or its equivalent with a minimum grade of B in each course from an accredited American institution.
  • Proof of Financial Support:
    • Financial Certification Form /Affidavit of Sponsorship - Student/Sponsors must attach an original bank statement and an employment verification letter to this form. 
    • Affidavit of Sponsor Providing Room and Board - This form is only for students who will be living with someone who will provide the student with free room and board. That person must attach a copy of a lease or proof of homeownership and an employment verification letter to the form.
  • Transfer Documents:
Transfer Documents (Eligibility Certificate) and copies of current I-20, I-94 card, and visa for students transferring from a U.S. institution. An Official Transcript (student copy is not acceptable) of course work completed at a U.S. institution must be mailed directly to WKCTC.
