Upcoming Events

Be sure to mark your calendar to attend these exciting events planned this semester in the Matheson Library!

  • February 13, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.  - Berry Craig presents excerpts from his book, Hidden History of Western Kentucky, with book sales, book signing, and reception to follow.
  • February 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.  - Judy Milford reads from her book, Surfacing (a poetry collection), with book sales, book signing, and reception to follow.
  • March 1, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. - Hats Off to Reading!, a children's literacy program involving our education students and celebrating Dr. Seuss, where children will enjoy age-appropriate storybook readings and have craft-time.  Refreshments will be served and brochures containing literacy activities for children of varying ages will be available.  (RDG030 and RDG020 students can attend and receive participation grade points by submitting a one-page write-up to their instructors.)
  • April 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. - Fifth Annual Celebration of Poetry with reception to follow.
  • April 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. - David Bottoms Poetry Reading with reception to follow.
  • April 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.  - Herbert Martin children's event and horticulturist presentation (seed planting activity) by Kathy Wimberley from the McCracken County Extension Office. 

Library Displays

Visit the library and view our monthly display tables.  Also, don't pass by without checking out the library display case on the first floor of the Matheson Learning Resource Center, which will continuously feature information about new items that have just arrived in the library.

Horton's Hoots:

Horton gives a tremendous hoot to everyone at West Kentucky Community & Technical College for being named one of the top 5 community colleges in the nation by the prestigious Aspen Institute!  We at the library are so proud to be a part of such a wonderful institution and ask all of you to join us in celebrating this achievement.  Let's Get Loud, everybody!

Horton gives a hoot about all students obtaining their campus ID card and using it at the Matheson Library circulation desk to check out materials!  Your campus ID card functions as your library card.  Campus ID cards can be obtained in the Business Office located in the Anderson Technical Building on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.   

Horton gives a hoot about Free Coffee Mondays!  Come by the library each Monday morning from 8:00 a.m. to Noon and get your week started out right with a free cup of fresh hot coffee!
